docWebTRC Exec Promotes National eRx Program
Dr. Korbey joined executives Aetna, Allscripts, Cisco, Dell, Fujitsu, Google, Intel, Microsoft, Sprint Nextel, SureScripts, WellPoint, and Wolters Kluwer Health in announcing the National ePrescribing Patient Safety InitiativeSM (NEPSISM). the first nationwide effort to improve patient safety by offering a solution to the medication errors that harm millions of people each year.
The nation's most prominent technology, healthcare, insurance and medical provider organizations led by Allscripts and Dell Computers announced a nationwide initiative to provide every physician in America access to free electronic prescribing -- in an effort to improve patient safety. The unprecedented initiative will greatly accelerate the adoption of this technology since only about 5 percent of the nation's 600,000 physicians currently use electronic prescribing platforms.
Electronic prescribing is now considered a key solution to resolve quality, cost and safety issues inherent in the written prescribing process. The web based eRx Now software is available to any physician with an Internet connection and requires no download, no new hardware, and minimal training. Electronic prescribing solutions enable physicians to make informed individual treatment decisions and reduce medical errors.
The National ePrescribing Patient Safety Initiative (NEPSI), led by Allscripts, is the first nationwide effort to improve patient safety by offering a comprehensive solution to medication errors that injure 1.5 million patients each year. For more information visit www.nationaleRx.com .

The Beat:
What does the docWebTRC staff need to keep going on a typical day? Churning code or graphical designs can be fairly intensive technical activities, and while the stereotypical fridge full of "jolt" has been replaced with mostly diet soda, there is a never ending supply of fresh coffee from the neighborhood donut shop. But what the staff really loves is listening to good music. One of their favorites is "The One", a breakthrough CD by Samantha Korbey. You can check Samantha out on her web site, or even better, vote for her video on music nation.
Perpsectives is Hot!
What does our chronic deficiency in available time and a refrigerator that places food orders over the Internet have in common? Read the February perspectives column written by docWebTRC's operations manager, John Alders, to find out. Perspectives is a monthly opinion column where various experts or our site visitors get to blog (and we use that as a verb here) about any and all topics relating to Medical eCommerce. Be sure to check out the breaking news and the library when you visit docwebTRC.com.

A founding member and president of docWebTRC, Dr. Azar Korbey took time away from his busy Salem, NH family practice and away from his duties here at TRC to attend a National Press Club event on January 16 in Washington DC.
In the five years that I've used TouchScript, the e-prescribing software has had a very positive impact on the safety and satisfaction of my patients. This technology instills confidence in my patients and helps me make the best decisions for their care.
